Masha Mapenzi was born in Watamu, Malindi to Giriama parents. She received Christ as her Savior in 1993 as a Form One student in High School. She was musically influenced greatly by Margaret Wambui Mwithukia whom, together with a gospel acapella group called ‘Flame’, set her off on her musical journey. During the first Kenyan chapter of M-Net Pop Idols in 2003 she was catapulted into the lime light where she emerged the overall winner after performing her own original rendition of a renown church hymn ‘when peace like a river’. She went on to South Africa to represent Kenya.

Masha has now released her first gospel album ‘Uhiko’ which means ‘where are you’ in Giriama. The album contains 10 songs, 7 in Swahili and 3 in Giriama, all with a rich blend of Chakacha, Bango, Nzele, and Taarab. The songs are set to make you dance to Coastal Gospel beats like never before!

Masha is the first born in her family, she has three brothers and is married to Steve Biko Migoye and is mother to Mfalme Huba.
