Holy Battalion is a music group based in Nairobi, Kenya. It is comprised of five artists who share a common interest in communicating the Gospel message through music. They are Dennis aka "Nabii”; Bernard aka "Bernardoz”; Kennedy aka"Onesh”; Salim and Zippy. Their new album, Upendo, is the first album they are doing as a group.


The members of Holy Battalion were originally members of other Christian rap groups i.e. Militant Christians which comprised of Dennis, Dalmas and Kennedy whereas Transfigured Vessels which had Bernardoz and Salim.Zippy was a solo artist. They all ministered up and down East Africa in the early 2000s. Their zeal for spreading the Gospel became their common thread, and in 2004, they formed the group Holy Battalion which is registered by the Government of Kenya.

 

In 2003, both Militant Christians and Transfigured vessels recorded individual songs i.e. “Mwanajeshi Best” and “Fagia yote” but later in 2004 after forming the group Holy Battalion, they did their first single, “Upendo wa Ajabu” which took the airwaves by storm.

 

The album christened “Upendo” translated in English (LOVE) is a culmination of various genres of music pieced together by Gideon “Gdykym” Kimanzi the C.E.O/Producer of Gdykym studios.
